"The Mayors fear of losing the political support of his allies is more important than demanding the fair and impartial treatment of citizens and dedicated village employees. The Mayors failure to heed the warning signs and take action will result in many thousands of dollars in litigation and large payments if the plaintiffs prevail."

These statements are yet another reflection of the Mayor's lack of ethical conviction and fiduciary duty that his position inherently requires. But as we continue to see, the longer that Matt and his allies are in power, the more degraded the ethics and actions of this Village's powers at be will become. It is apparent that the Mayor and the Board need not worry about the high cost of lawsuits, as they have no regard for the tax money being wasted and can use their scape goats within the Village politico to pass the buck. Village residents and leaders alike need to remove their blinders, to see the Mayor's true agenda. It is an agenda that does not have the best interest of the citizens, business owners, employees or visitors to the Village in mind.

After hearing and reading about the out of control behaviors of the Board toward Village residents, I am disgusted by the response of Trustee Alfonso to citizens who are exercising their right and responsiblity to question this government. Alfonso's unnecessarily abrasive response to questioning residents was, “You have a problem with that? How long have you lived in the Village?”

Well to that comment residents' answer should be a resounding, "Yes! Residents should and do have a problem with that." Yes, residents do have a problem with unwarranted and irresponsible budget increases with underlying personal agendas set out by Trustees. Yes, residents do have a problem with anyone in Village government fostering and participating in nepotism, especially for financial gain. And Yes, residents do have a problem with Alfonso or anyone in Village government quantifying a resident's right to participate in the community solely based on their length of residency. Or simply put, all residents should have equal standing in the Village, not just those in government positions, with connections, or who have lived here 'forever.' All of these implications and behaviors from the Board are why the Village cannot attract and keep new residents, which is exactly what this Village needs.

So in turn, Trustee Alfonso, I pose the question to you…Do YOU have a problem with that?

[“You have a problem with that? How long have you lived in the Village?”]

Those are two very interesting questions Mr. Alfonso. I have two for you though.

1. Since when is democracy seniority based?

2. Exactly how long must one reside in the Village of Wappingers Falls before they are free to express their opinion?

Thanks for the information. I guess the highway will be picking up weekly until May 1, then it will go to every other week. I hope the highway department will be able to do the pick up on the weeks Royal doesn't.

The Royal Carting pick-up doesn't start until May.
In the meantime, the Highway Department has been handling it.

The notice I got said Royal will pick up the bags on the first and third Mondays. There are five Mondays in April. That means three weeks between the Royal pick ups.

My guess is that the Highway Department was picking up for connected residents who were told they not do not have to follow the same rules the rest of us. If I had known they were picking up today I would have put bags out instead of storing them in my yard.

How do you get on the list to get notified of what the village is really doing, instead of listening to what the Mayor and Village board tell us in public meetings and mailings?

BTW - Royal is paid out of your garbage bill. If the Highway is picking up they are being paid out of your property taxes. You are now paying twice for the same service.

If our tax dollars are paying for Royal Carting to pick up brush bags, why did I see the highway department doing it today?

The village abided by the new law in February and March. Now that election day has passed it's business as usual. The documents were not made available in April.

Why would any resident choose to invest in and support Matt for Congress as he asks when it is clear that he has chosen NOT to invest himself in bettering the Village of Wappingers Falls for its residents. Under Matt's "leadership" there has been a degraded quality of life, businesses vacating the Village, numerous lawsuits, missing and mismanaged Village funds, departments allowed to run a muck, ill-thought spending, and Matt's pointed disrespect toward residents that do not march to his drum in an abusive manner displayed at public Board meetings (such as 4/11/12). These actions are not evidence of the leadership needed to better this Village or beyond. Both the Village and New York deserve better representation.

Why would you junk a car to prevent spending money on future repairs? That's like burning your own house down to avoid mowing the lawn.
