The Village of Wappingers Falls allowed WPDH to have Roofathon in Mesier Park. The event was held in conjunction with the Picnic-in-the-Park. At 1:30 in the afternoon on Sunday WPDH interviewed a porn star live in Mesier Park. Then they sold her adult video's in the park for a $50 donation in front of the young children and families attending the Village's Community Day .

In 2009 Picnic in the Park was combined with WPDH's Roofathon. The event drew crowds from throughout Dutchess County. The traditional Picnic-in-the-Park was transformed to three day Party-in-the-Park. In fact the crowds for were so large that the event went $7,333 over budget. Village taxpayers paid a total of $17,333. WPDH, part of the multi-million dollar Cumulis Broadcasting Network paid the Village a total of $450 and some free tee shirts for the three day use of the park.

Revitalized housing and inviting sidewalks leading to a Community Center with a small marina at a waterfront park on Market Street… Upscale housing for the 55 and older crowd on Franklindale Ave… Historic lighting, pocket parks with a lighted and visible waterfall in a thriving business district… Shade trees lining South Avenue with improved sidewalks and crosswalks leading to Village green spaces and playgrounds.
Those are some of the ideas that planners heard from Village residents and business people at the February 18th Waterfront Revitalization Public Visioning Workshop.

July 26, 2009: Valero Service Station on South Avenue is looking to expand it's business to include a Dunkin Donuts drive thru and increased hours of operation. Residents are expressing concerns about the increased traffic and noise the building will bring. Concerns are hightened by the fact that the Valero property has been and continues to be in violation of current zoning ordinances.

Answer Depends On Which Ward You Live In
Anyone who drives on Village roads knows the challenges of avoiding potholes and clumps of blacktop from failed attempts at repair. The condition of sidewalks and crumbling curbs makes walking just as challenging. Because repairing roads and sidewalks is expensive the Village only works on a few each year. Residents in the 2nd and 3rd Wards patiently wait for their neighborhood to get to the top of the list. For residents in the First Ward the wait is not bad at all.
