Imagine...

Revitalized housing and inviting sidewalks leading to a Community Center with a small marina at a waterfront park on Market Street…  Upscale housing for the 55 and older crowd on Franklindale Ave… Historic lighting, pocket parks with a lighted and visible waterfall in a thriving business district… Shade trees lining South Avenue with improved sidewalks and crosswalks leading to Village green spaces and playgrounds.

Those are some of the ideas that planners heard from Village residents and business people at the February 18th Waterfront Revitalization Public Visioning Workshop.

On February 18th the Village of Wappingers Falls and the Dutchess County Planning Department hosted a forum on the Villages revitalization. About 40 community members came to the Knights of Columbus building and shared their ideas and concerns with County and State planners. The planners compiled lists that will help them develop long term revitalization plans for the Village. Having the plans in place will open up grant opportunities to the Village for revitalization projects.
